Support for women who have experienced sexual violence

Featured projectThe Amina scheme is a peer support scheme for women who have experienced rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse at anytime in their history. We are looking for women who would like one to one support from a specially trained volunteer.

Women are paired with a volunteer who has experienced sexual violence in the past themselves.  Amina is not a counselling service but it has been designed to work alongside Eaves Scarlet Centre counselling and other support services that women can access.

Volunteers meet with women once a week and can:

  • Help women talk about how they feel
  • Help women work towards personal goals
  • Accompany women to appointments
  • Help to access support services
  • Support through reporting and court proceedings.

The scheme is open to women over the age of 18, working or living in the London area. We accept referrals from agencies or women can contact us directly.

For more information you can contact the Amina scheme on the above email or by telephone: 0207 840 7959

To apply to the scheme (either yourself or on behalf of a client) email the referral form to: amina@eavesforwomen.org.uk

Victims of Trafficking are victims of crime, not criminals

Victims of trafficking are victims of crime, not criminalsPLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION TO END DETENTION FOR TRAFFICKED PEOPLE.

Eaves’ Poppy Project has launched a campaign to end the detention and punishment of victims of trafficking in the UK.

Every year men, women and children are trafficked into the UK to be exploited and treated like slaves. These individuals are lied to and harmed in the UK, but instead of protecting victims and focusing on prosecuting the traffickers, these exploited individuals are often unfairly put in prisons and detention centres for crimes they were forced to commit by their traffickers. Over 95% of Poppy Project clients in detention or prison lost their freedom because a trafficker gave them a fake passport or stole food to survive – crimes that only happened because they were trafficked here.

We are calling on the Government to ensure that anyone who may be a victim of trafficking is properly identified and freed from unfair detention or incarceration.
